Home Days Here. Caring for My Parents 2026-03-17 Co-op

2026-03-17 Co-op

I gulped down an energy drink and headed home to my parents' house.

When I opened the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator,
Two heads of cabbage,
About 10 cucumbers,
There are about eight carrots.

My mother (who has dementia) buys it every week from the consumer cooperative.

You can also check the stock.
Buying after "thinking"
It's getting difficult now.

"We have plenty of those, so you don't need to buy any."
Even if I try to tell them, my words won't reach them anymore.

Ordering from the consumer cooperative is a sacred space for my mother.
No one can say anything.
Going my way...

Even if you secretly erase what you wrote on the order form,
Later, it's often added again.

It would be fine if they cooked and used it themselves,
Because even that has become almost impossible.
The amount of food hasn't decreased at all.

I have so much frozen food that it won't all fit in the freezer.

Things that are too much of
My sister and I bring them home each time.

Since my family started using the consumer cooperative,
More than 50 years have passed.

Because we've been doing it for 50 years,
I told my mother that I was "doing it properly."
They must have an unwavering sense of self.

Among the users,
I imagine there are many elderly people in the same situation.

And the same problem...
I developed dementia.
I'm losing control of my co-op orders...
That's the point.

Such problems are
I wonder what's happening elsewhere...
And then I suddenly thought.

I found these cherry blossoms while passing by.
I don't know the variety name,
They were in full bloom a little earlier than the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms 🌸
beautiful.
