Travel Memories

A trip to Finland via Germany

My trip to Finland starts in Germany.
After a flight of approximately 15 hours,
I arrived at Frankfurt Airport.
I picked up my suitcase as usual.
I was supposed to head straight to a nearby hotel.
Since it's a direct flight, there's no risk of your luggage getting lost.
That was supposed to be the case.

But no matter how much time passes
The turntable won't move.
None of our suitcases have come out yet.
It seemed like there was some kind of trouble.

Staring at the motionless turntable,
It took about an hour before it finally started moving.
Suitcases have started to appear.

After a 15-hour flight
It's tough to be made to wait there for an hour.

My relief was short-lived.
It just won't come out.

Then my husband's came out.
I thought mine would appear too,
It won't come out.

The people who were waiting for their luggage,
They each took their belongings and left.
The number of people left behind is steadily decreasing...
I have a bad feeling about this.

Those who remain are with us,
Another Japanese woman.

And then the turntable stopped.

A Japanese staff member who was nearby rushed over.
"I'll check it right away," they said.

After some time, the situation is explained.
The turntable's conveyor belt is broken.
My suitcase is
It is located on the belt in the way onto the turntable.
Apparently, it's not a place where people can get there.
In other words, the conveyor belt malfunction was fixed.
It seems all we can do is wait for it to start moving again.

"When will it be fixed?"

"I don't understand."

Seriously...?

I've traveled a lot so far.
My luggage has even ended up in another country.
I've experienced lost baggage more than once or twice,
It's disappointing, but it's not surprising; it happens, you know...

However, this is the first time that the conveyor belt has malfunctioned and the products haven't come out.
All sorts of things can happen.

The other woman who was left behind was,
They appear to be diligently communicating something on their smartphones.

According to the staff, the repair will take:
I was told it would only take a few tens of minutes,
It didn't get fixed even after several tens of minutes.
When it's ready, please bring it to the hotel.
I gently asked, and while I was filling out the paperwork,

"It's fixed! It's working!"

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...
The other Japanese woman who was left behind was
A strange sense of solidarity has emerged,
They held hands and rejoiced.

Before I knew it, more than two hours had passed since I got off the plane.
I left Haneda that morning.
By the time it was already the next day in Japan time,
I finally arrived at the hotel.
