in front"Time at home"I wrote it.
The house next door in Tokyo was demolished.
I heard it's been cleared and turned into an empty lot.
Then, something unexpected happened.
An old well was discovered.
That too,
Right between my house and the house next door
It was located on the boundary line of the property.
Unless this well is filled in,
Since they couldn't sell the land,
It was decided to backfill the area immediately.
I was surprised to find out there was a well.
Upon checking, it was indeed located on the boundary line.
How did this happen?
I think it might be a remnant of land readjustment from an older era.
It was a sudden request, but
We can't just leave things as they are.
This was a good opportunity to properly fill it in.
Therefore,
Today we invited the Shinto priest from our local shrine,
I attended the purification ceremony for the well along with my neighbor.
I never imagined they'd perform a purification ceremony to fill in the well.
I never imagined I'd experience that...
An altar was set up near the well.
Kagami mochi, rice, sake, sea bream, vegetables, etc.
Offerings are laid out.
The Shinto priest's prayers resonate softly.
That voice seemed to clear the air.
Offering a sacred branch,
The exorcism was completed without incident.
That's a relief.
It felt as if...a past time had been sealed away somewhere.
After the purification ceremony, we received offerings.
"It is a gift from the gods," the Shinto priest said.
A 1-kilogram Kagami Mochi (rice cake offering) and a magnificent sea bream.
Alcohol, fruits, vegetables, kelp, salt, etc.
The kagami mochi (rice cake offering) was still slightly warm and soft.
I have never touched such a soft Kagami Mochi before.
It was my first time.
And then, sea bream.
Naturally, it's different from what you'd find in a store.
The scales and internal organs are still intact.
Thus, dinner was,
After struggling to prepare the sea bream,
It turned out to be a luxurious acqua pazza.
