When I started the car engine, I heard on the radio,
I heard a familiar voice.
Oh. I thought it was Moomin...
Kyoko Kishida's voice is gentle and somewhat humorous.
Ms. Kishida was doing the reading aloud.
"Matasaburo..." came up,
I immediately recognized it as Kenji Miyazawa's "Matasaburo of the Wind."
But that doesn't seem to be the case.
The Matasaburo I know is somehow different.
I haven't read it in ages, so I don't remember it exactly.
Hmm? Was that the story?
It's Matasaburo, but it's not quite Matasaburo.
And there was one more thing that caught my attention.
When Mr. Kishida spoke of "Matasaburo of the Wind," written by Kenji Miyazawa,
It's the intonation of "Kaze no" (of the wind).
It's difficult to put into words, but...
Generally speaking, "kaze no" (of the wind) is pronounced with a pitch of "ka↗️zeno".
The notes rise from low to high, and "Xeno" is a sound of the same pitch.
Kishida's pronunciation of "Kaze no" (wind) is pronounced "Ka↘️Zeno" with a downward sloping tone.
To give an example,
It's like the difference between saying "mori no risu" (forest squirrel) and "morino risu" (forest squirrel) (lol).
Something felt off... so I looked into it after getting home,
Wow!
It turns out there are two versions of "Kaze no Matasaburo." I didn't know that.
The well-known "Kaze no Matasaburo",
"Kazeno Matasaburo" was written even earlier than that.
That makes sense.
The story that Mr. Kishida was reading aloud was "Kazeno Matasaburo."
I wanted to listen to it until the end,
I arrived at my destination in the middle of reading aloud.
That was really disappointing.
It seems that "Kazeno Matasaburo" is also available on Aozora Bunko,
I'm definitely going to read and compare it with "Kaze no Matasaburo."
Today, September 21st, is apparently the anniversary of Kenji Miyazawa's death.
And this year marks the 130th anniversary of his birth.
I happened to hear the story of "Kazeno Matasaburo."
Could this be some kind of fate?
