I went to Matsudo on business.
It was my first time going to Matsudo.
On the way, I saw the Edogawa River from the train window.
It sparkles in the spring light.
After finishing my errands,
I headed to the Tojo residence nearby.
I didn't even know it existed,
Just because it's nearby
I just dropped in,
I unexpectedly came across a wonderful building.
This is the younger brother of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the last Shogun of the Edo Shogunate.
The residence of Tokugawa Akitake, the last lord of the Mito domain.
The wooden mansion built in the Meiji period
It was surprisingly simple, far from the extravagance one might imagine from the name "Tokugawa family."
But its simplicity,
It actually accentuates the beauty of the building.
Glass fitted in the window.
At first glance it may seem like nothing,
If you look closely, you can see that it softly distorts the light.
This is something that is not found in today's homogeneous glass.
It has a unique taste.
Looking at the light through the glass,
I think about the time I spent here.
In the room, before the Hinamatsuri festival,
There were adorable cloth Hina dolls on display.
The Kawazu cherry blossoms in the garden are in full bloom.
It was so warm that short sleeves were fine,
The season was already spring.
Unexpectedly,
The afternoon when time overlapped.
