From around 1971 to around 1975
I still had a few cassette tapes at my parents' house.
When I was little,
I used to enjoy playing "singing contests" at home.
My father became the host,
My sister and I took turns singing.
My father had recorded the whole thing on a cassette tape.
All that remained were a few of those tapes,
This is a recording of the final episode of the TV anime from that time.
This was back in the days before video tapes existed.
I listened to the recorded final episode over and over again.
Moomin, Attack No. 1 --
Back then, we would layer the continuation of the story onto a world of sound alone.
When I put it into the cassette player,
The tape seemed a little stretched,
I was still able to listen to it somehow.
However, some of them had already broken.
This tape is over half a century old.
A fleeting fragment of time that could be cut off at any moment.
So, for now, I'll use the "Nodojiman" tape.
I decided to import the images into my computer and digitize them.
After struggling with the recording software for a while,
I managed to import it successfully.
The sound is a little difficult to hear in some parts,
But it was still there.
When I played it back, I couldn't help but laugh.
That one moment from my childhood
They remain trapped.
To other people, it probably sounds like nothing special.
But for me,
A sense of nostalgia permeates everywhere.
I couldn't help but smile.
Transfer this sound to some kind of memory,
I'm thinking of giving them to my parents and my sister.
Nowadays, we've had smartphones since we were born.
Recording things on video has become commonplace.
But—
The voice of myself from fifty years ago,
The fact that we can listen to it now.
It was very quiet,
It was truly moving.
"Voice only"...
I think that was a good thing.
Sounds can evoke a variety of memories.
It's not live-action,
It's a landscape from my imagination,
On the contrary, a deep sense of nostalgia wells up inside me.
I'm grateful that my father recorded it for me at that time.
I just feel grateful.
