"Just right"

I went to my parents' house for the first time after my trip.
I expected it.

I went into the storage room, which also serves as a pantry, to get something.
Empty boxes of various sizes, regardless of their size,
They are stacked on top of each other like building blocks, in perfect balance.
Paper bags and wrapping paper are left scattered haphazardly everywhere.
The canned and bottled goods were arranged by type.
Before I knew it, they were scattered all over the place.
They even have detergent and toilet cleaner available.

Given my mother's personality, her room is always tidy in all visible areas.
Nothing unnecessary is included.
If my father were to put something in a place that was under my mother's control,
He's absolutely furious.

It seems they want to be seen by others as someone who keeps things tidy.
Since he said so himself, it must be true.

Anyway, anything and everything that's out there,
Everyone has one of these in a drawer, cupboard, or storage room.
Hide it somewhere where it won't be seen.

Well, that's fine.
Someone (either me or my sister) just needs to clean it up.

During this trip, for more than two weeks,
I hadn't been able to go to my parents' house.

I opened the refrigerator and couldn't help but sigh.

When I opened the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator,
There were about 15 carrots sitting there.
About 10 cucumbers.
There are so many other things that I can't fit them all in here.
Open the freezer.
I opened it a little and then closed it immediately.
It's packed full.
Open the main door.
I don't know when it was made.
I kept the small amount that was left over.
Small storage containers are stacked on top of each other.
Meat that's long past its expiration date.
Also, frozen foods that didn't fit in the freezer are crammed into any remaining gaps.

Okay. It's alright.
As expected.

As expected, but what am I going to do with this huge amount of food...?

The real problem is,
It's buying large quantities of food at the consumer cooperative.

I've written this many times before,
For my mother, ordering from the consumer cooperative is sacred ground.
They extremely dislike being told what to do or ordered around.

Every week, I look at the catalog and fill out the order form myself.
I also record the items I ordered in my notebook.
It's a job well done.
Even so, my mother,
I would flip through the catalog and find some delicious-looking sweets,
Circle it,
"Hey, wait a moment."
"Doesn't this look delicious?" she says with a laugh.

I hardly ever go out anymore.
The joy of shopping is,
It's all down to just the consumer cooperative.

Taking away the Co-op from my mother is...
I haven't thought about it at all,
Is there a way to order "just right"?
