When you notice the silence

I woke up when,
It was a little before my alarm clock went off.
The light outside the window, seen through the curtains, is already faintly bright.
I can hear the birds singing from outside.
It's a summer morning.

As I was fidgeting in bed,
Mocha noticed that I was awake.
The sound of quick footsteps, clack, clack, clack, clack,
I can hear something approaching from somewhere.
When she came to my room,
I let out a sigh of relief in my bed and fell asleep again.
　
I was in the kitchen, about to make coffee, so I poured water into the electric kettle.
When you turn on the pot switch,
A loud beeping sound echoed strangely in the room.
Once the sound stopped, the kitchen became eerily quiet.
After a brief pause, from the bottom of the pot,
A low humming sound is produced as the water begins to boil.

I went out onto the deck to breathe in the fresh morning air.
The summer sun is already strong, even in the morning.
My husband mowed the lawn yesterday,
It smells more like grass than usual.
Lots of pink echinacea flowers bloomed.
The birch leaves rustled slightly,
It wasn't really a strong breeze.
It was just air moving.
A single bird sang nearby, and that was it; there was no further sound.

The pot beeped again.
The sound simply indicated that the water had boiled, a mechanical process.

I pour the hot water slowly and steadily, surrounded by the aroma of coffee.
I can hear the sound of coffee dripping into the mug.
The rising steam stretched straight up.
