A day with no plans.
I thought I’d finish preparing dinner in the morning
and spend the afternoon taking it easy.
—That was the plan.
I only meant to tweak the blog site I’m writing on,
just a little,
but before I knew it,
I was completely stuck in the swamp.
Ah, WordPress…
Why must you be this way?
Things never go quite as I want them to.
They say it offers great freedom,
but is it really freedom?
Is it easy to build a site,
or difficult?
Staring at the screen for a while,
I found myself thinking about that.
After wrestling with it for some time,
I was finally worn out,
so I stopped,
and took a breath.
While making coffee,
I talked with my husband about our
summer trip.
The aroma of coffee
gently spreads through the room.
We’ve more or less decided on the destination.
It’s a place we’ve never been,
so we don’t quite know how things work there.
Still, one thing is certain—
it’s a wonderful place.
Vast, beautiful scenery.
Food that looks delicious.
Charming little shops.
The coffee in the photographs
connects with the coffee in my hands.
So many images
softly whisper to my senses,
“Come soon.”
There’s still time before summer,
so I’ll look into things a little more,
and wander a little longer
through the city of my imagination.
The time it takes to get there
is already part of the journey.
I picture an as-yet-unknown world,
let my imagination roam,
and feel my heart lift
at each new discovery.
I’m enjoying that time itself.
The journey has already begun.
Perhaps building a website is the same.
Repeating “I can’t!” and “I did it!”
I realize I’m finding the process itself amusing.
The path toward completion
looks close at times,
and still far away at others.
Each time I discover a new feature,
I can’t help but think, Ooh!
and once again,
the destination called “completion” drifts further away.
Maybe
it’s better
if it never gets finished at all.
Continued,
On the way.
